The challenge

Keeping all hardware and software components up to date and providing 24/7 support is critical to ensuring secure, high-performance IT operations at all times. At the start of the project, apetito was using an IBM Power8 environment as its main system. This environment hosted SAP applications (e.g. SAP ERP, SAP BW) on several IBM i partitions. After three years, the software maintenance renewal was due. The challenge was to develop a future-proof and stable service concept, taking into account performance and economic aspects.

After a detailed analysis of the existing IT infrastructure and taking into account the cost structure, an optimized overall solution was designed and implemented. This solution, based on Power9 technology and SAP integration, is designed to withstand today’s dynamic environment while providing the highest level of service assurance. It includes a unique 24/7 managed services concept. A network of experts ensures maximum stability of the IT infrastructure, reports, optimizes (e.g. with necessary firmware updates) and resolves all hardware, software and application issues worldwide around the clock, as required.
